About Me

I'm Afton Warrick, stay-at home mother of four and wife. I also assist Gail Garber, teach Continuing Education at UNM, and design quilt patterns for my Craftsy shop. Before children, I enjoyed working as a first and second grade teacher.

I'm originally from Cheyenne, WY, home of Frontier Days. Currently, I reside in Albuquerque, NM, home of the International Balloon Fiesta. I have no intention of moving from my two-story stucco home, EVER, as that would unveil the true extent of my fabric hoard stash.

Here in the southwest, I'm known for designing a New Mexico Centennial block of the month,

Enchanted New Mexico
my Route 66 Quilt Challenge entry,

Inscription Rock
and designing the 2012 raffle quilt for the New Mexico Quilters' Association, of which I was president of the following year.
Fanciful Flight
While I've been quilting most of my married life, it wasn't until recently that I discovered modern quilting and the fantastic community of online quilters. It's been a pleasure to experience Flickr groups, blog hops, fabric swaps, online bees, and linky parties.

My blog has evolved in purpose from a scrapbook of quilts to a means of collaborating with others in the pursuit of creativity and friendship.

Quilting Mod is my forum for inspiration, sharing my quilting experiences, and journaling my growing understanding of what constitutes modern quilting.

  1. Your quilts remind me so much of our travels throughout the southwest. Although we've never been to New Mexico, we've covered all of Arizona a few times. Probably not exactly the same, but similar. Your work is lovely, especially your centennial block of the month. It looks like it is very intricate. I'm on the hop too. Hope you stop by. Have a great weekend.

  3. Afton,
I responded to your email regarding winners of your giveaway. I might be the Kathy, but I don't know your email address. Your email came from noreply@blogger.com so I don't know if you will get my response. Please send your email address to kakingsbury at verizon dot net
Thanks. Sorry for the late response. We've been struggling with a major snowstorm here in western NY

  4. You will have to pass along a note to Gail Garber for me. She's partly responsible for me going pro with my quilt teaching. I took a class from her a few years ago and told her I wanted to travel & teach like she did. She encouraged me & told me I was at the right age & time to do it lol!! Then a few months later I found modern quilting and it all fell into place!
